Fo and UFOs, now WIPs

Kims_neckwarmer_002Now that I've given it to her, I can show you the neckwarmer I made for Blog-Free Kim.  I saw similar ones at the Year of the Goat booth in Rhinebeck (right next to the Golding booth), and Melissa generously shared the pattern with me.  The Misti Alpaca was dreamy to knit with, and it seems like BF Kim really likes her new neckwarmer.  If I were to make another, I'd use a less chunky yarn so that I could do more decorative crochet on the edging.  Initially that was the plan, but there wasn't enough stitch definition to warrant it.

Back in late October I decided to work on Cleaning my Slate for 2008.  I've made slow but steady progress and managed to knit a few holiday gifts as well.  I often think of Margene's distinction of UFOs and WIPs, and as I reassess my project list on Ravelry, I realize that the items still on the needles are all items that I'm enjoying knitting and look forward to using.  I have a few new things I'd like to start soon, but I'll wait until I finish a bit more of the work on my needles.  Over and over, Margene's posts remind me to be mindful in my crafting, and I'm grateful for that.  I hope to carry mindfulness into more of my life in the new year and on.

Knockin' Off My List

020I used Norma's pattern for this hat, made from my first handspun (circa 2005).  It's super warm and will be going to a charitable organization in lieu of Dulaan.

021 And here you have my new Fingerless Mitts from Weekend Knitting.  I had some Karabella in the stash from last year's Hat City Squad Swap (an amazing event), and I needed something to keep me warm when I drive to work.  Fast knit, and cozy mitts!  I'm holding my new special edition Moleskine calendar.  Can't wait for 2008!

I've still got a long list before I Clean my Slate for 2008, but I'm confident I can make progress!
