Well, I'm not loving the end of the chapter, but it's time to send it to Vermont, so it will have to do for now.
1. 9:00 2. 2 hours 3. Finish chapter one 4. 11:45 5. Read sentences chapter...excellent. Made additions/corrections per Dana and Neal, wrote final 1.5 pp of chapter and synopsis. 6. Tomorrow...my work will be in the form of an interview. 12:30-2. 7. see above.
Written after the fact. 1. 9:00 2. Two hours 3. Continue work on Ch. 1 4. 11:00 5. Read Chapter 2 of Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose. This book makes for good pre-writing reading. Wrote to pp. 20, total of 3.25 pp. 6. Work tomorrow when schedule allows me to leave house. 7. Will work for 3 hours. Finish Ch. 1 and review it prior to sending to VT.
Yesterday and today I took Carrie Bradshaw's trick of moving to a cafe to write while my man de-and re-constructs the house. I am amazed at how much more work I get done when I write sans internet. I may need to switch to dialup. Or invest in Starbucks, as that is the only cafe around.
So...7/4, I wrote from 1:20-3:10 and wrote four pages. Today I wrote from 12:45 until 2:00, and I wrote 3 pages.
Tomorrow: I will go to cafe at time that fits in with the days schedule. Will write for 2.5 to 3 hours. Will write five pages, incl. scene that sets up Clare's bad reputation.
1. 11:15 a.m. 2. 3 hours total today 3. Map out first 25 pp., then write five additional pages.
I know I'm going to be interrupted at noon. I'm annoyed. I was in the shower and N. took a call from someone saying she wanted to swing by at noon. I was going to go write elsewhere, but now I feel obliged to stay home, and it means I will lose out on time and have to make it up. Grrr!
4. 2:10. The interruptions were many and annoying. I worked about 1.5 hours out of this whole time. Will work again later today. Must go eat now.
5. Mapped out the first chapter, wrote one page. I'll work on the rest of the chapter when I come back and will write for 1.5 hours.
Neal has started the kitchen reno in earnest today--cabinets are being ripped out and chaos is descending. I decided to go to Starbucks (for lack of any nicer place to get a cuppa joe and write) and work there. No Internet for me, so here is what happened:
1. 1:00 2. 2 hours 3. Continue w/Roger & Nancy vein 4. Finished at 2:30. Wrote entire time 5. Wrote 2.5 pp. Should always write sans Internet 6. Will write for 2 hours tomorrow afternoon--post attempt at getting iPhone and hair cut. 7. Will work on finishing up b'ball scene and moving into next scene.
I'm going to try things a little differently. I'm going to start the week (Monday start) by deciding how many hours I need to get in for that week, and I'll write to those hours. This week will be 13 hours...I know I have a lot of errands to do tomorrow, and Thursday and Friday will be busy, too.
Today, for instance, I have a lot of time--just a run planned and a phone date with LJO, so I'm going to work a little longer than I have been.
1. 7:55 2. Work for three hours 3. Write webtext for one hour, then two hours on THB. Need to get 3 pp written today.
4. 10:50. Stopping a few minutes early b/c dogs finally want to go outside. They've been tolerant today.
5. I have about 1.5 of writing today. Not what I wanted, but I did get things moving again--deleted some text (about a paragraph) and feel like I have good direction. Nancy & Roger relationship ready to start. Also got a bit of work done on website. Will write for it this afternoon.
6. Tomorrow at 7:30.
7. I'll write for 2 hours and will strive for three pages.
I forgot yesterday that I had my rug hooking group. No writing as I had a lot of other business to attend to when I came home.
1. 9:13 2. 1 hour 3. Going to see if I really focus hard and just write sans editing how much I can get done.
4. 10:27. Spent 40 minutes not writing, feeling anxious about not know what to do next. Wrote the rest of the time.
5. I'm well into p. 6 now. May start doing word counts after today.
6. I'll write in the afternoon tomorrow; must do errands in the a.m. Kitchen renovation begins in earnest, so I'll have plenty of free time. I'll work for 2.5 hours.
7. Want to get to some rising action. Will aim for 1,000 words tomorrow.
1. 7:30 2. 2 hours 3. Warm up with narrative post, then work on moving action forward. Is setting good now?
4. 9:29. Wrote for most of the time. Did less deleting. Trying to just get stuff down; can always go back to it. Starting to get some shape for this first part.
5. Um, see above.
6. Tomorrow a.m., 8: 00 for two hours.
7. Need some rising action tomorrow. Will aim to get to p. 8.
1. 8:05 2. 2 hours 3. continue with current scene. Reply to Brown email.
I did more interviews on Saturday, for a total of about 45 minutes. Excited to have return e-mail from Brown Farm.
4. 10:08
5. On p. 4. Need to stop striving for "perfection" and just get the damn draft down. Also e-mailed Browns and set up tour date. Very excited about that!
6. Tomorrow will write in the a.m.--by 8:00 at the latest.
7. Going to try to crank out 4-5 pp. Kick the editor on my shoulder off and get some words down!
